A. Steps to transfer a domain name from the original registrar to a new registrar
- The original registrant obtains an authorization code (“auth code”) from the original registrar.
- The original registrant gives the auth code to the new registrar (chosen by the new registrant) who initiates the transfer of the domain name to the new registrar.
- The domain name records are transferred to the new registrar.
B. Steps for the non-authenticated registrant that is the new domain name owner
- Go to http://travel.travel/authenticationframe.htm
- Click the link on step 2.
- Choose an authentication provider. If they belong to an association listed they can choose one of them. If not they must choose the first one listed “Tralliance Authentication provider”.
- Once they choose they will be taken to the next page. On this page they need to click on the “Get authenticated and register” link.
- Fill out the application provided and submit.
- Upon receipt of application, they will receive confirmation emails with their UIN (which is also provided at the end of registration)
- If the new registrant wishes to use a different registrar than what the original registrant used, follow the steps in A. If the transfer is done with the same registrar, then no authorization coded is needed.
- Once steps 1-7 have been completed, the new registrant must go to the existing registrar or the new registrar if the steps in A have been completed. Please note that in order to complete the transfer the new registrant must:
a. Have been authenticated
b. Possess a UIN
c. Complete the registrar transfer in A if they wish to use a different registrar from that originally chosen by the original registrant. - Complete the steps in D.
C. Steps for an already authenticated registrant that is the new domain name owner
- If the new registrant wishes to use a different registrar than what the original registrant used the steps in A must first be completed.
- If the transfer is done with the original registrar, then new owner must:
a. Have been authenticated
b. Possess a UIN
c.Complete the registrar transfer in A if they wish to use a different registrar from that originally chosen by the original registrant. - Complete the steps in D.
D. Steps for the original domain name holder
- Contact your registrar to inform them of the name transfer.
- Complete the steps in B or C as necessary.
- Access your domain name record using the access codes set up with your registrar and change the contact, admin and billing information to that of the new registrant. You may need to ask your registrar to simply remove your billing information and have the new registrant update the account with their own billing information once you have completed this step.
- Give the new registrant the access codes to manage your domain name with the registrar.
- The new registrant will ask the registrar to update the domain name record to include the UIN for the new registrant.
- The new registrant must then renew the domain name using his/her own UIN. This step will update the .travel records to show that the new registrant is the holder of the name. Renewal of the name by the new registrant in the future is not possible if this step is not completed.
